A Love Letter and A Tractor Accident

Dear friends,

David's old phone he used to call for help, a mug his niece had created for him from a picture taken a few days before the accident. He was having fun giving kids rides in the wagon pulled by his Farmall tractor.

My husband and I are writing a love letter to share. Eleven years ago, David was involved in a tractor accident. The prayers of people began and kept on and on and on. The miracles began and continue to go on and on and on. Thanks to the quick action of so many EMTmembers, medical teams near and far, prosthetic teams with research and technology, neighbors, friends, church friends, motorcycle buddies and family, David more than "made it". He lives every day with gratitude and appreciation to be alive and well.

That said, we have decided it is time for David and our family to give back. David is writing a book dedicated to the people

who saved his life. We are gathering

information from anyone who wants to share a memory of his rescue and rehab.

We have the notes that Shane kept and posted in the Caring Bridge journal at the time of David's accident. We would love your input as well.

If you have any facts or recollections about David's journey back to health that would help us get this love letter written just right, please send your message to David's email at dspangler@jbntelco.com. We promise to read every one of your messages. Thank you in advance for your kindness in sharing.

Today, David enjoys working at a local care home, assisting in the activities department. Along with his friends at the facility, David finds much joy in life as they visit together, play bingo, dominoes and cards. The monthly peanut auction is also a highlight in fun!

In David's spare time, he mows yards in

the summer and builds wooden toys in his shop

David's leg being charged for the following day. We are so very thankful for this beautiful leg that makes independent walking possible. Between the prosthesis, the wheelchair in the house, and his 4--wheeler and lawn mower, David gets around where he wants to go.

during the cooler months. David enjoys singing specials occasionally with good friends at

church. Watching football games, and vintage country music shows keep him entertained when he gets home from work in the evenings. After he plugs in his prosthesis for the nightly recharge, David settles in his chair with a western or adventure book. Ice cream and chocolate milk (not always 2%!) are still favorites.

David says, "God is good, all the time." Yup. That is absolutely the Truth.
