Backyard Living

Recently, we acquired an outdoor tool for baking, smoking and grilling. Equally awesome in every season, we decided this piece of equipment also would be doubly appreciated during any extended power interruptions that might happen.

Peace of mind and lots of fun! The Pyro Tower along with other outdoor equipment are designed, built and marketed in Mulberry, Kansas. Do a search for Proud Pyro and check out the metal handiwork of this company. https://www.proudpyro.com/ Not only do they feature their products at the site, there are links to set-up, care and cooking with the tower. Annie’s setup and cooking videos are the best for helping a newbie(me) learn the skills for delicious baking, smoking and grilling.

(The materials and workmanship are outstanding. This is totally customer satisfaction talking. No kickback or paid to say it. We’re proud it’s a Kansas product that is superb.)

We assembled the tower within a couple of hours (minus the concrete pad that we had poured ourselves a few weeks before).

Here’s a picture of the finished tower on the pad.

Our first grilling event coincided with a need for a birthday celebration. We chose a less expensive cut of flank steak. It was easy on the wallet, strong on flavor.

The flank steak is split horizontally (butterflied), pounded flat, lined with fresh spinach leaves, and filled with a breadcrumb/cheese/roasted pepper/basil/sea salt/moistened with broth stuffing. Rolled up from the long side, then tied and drizzled with olive oil, it came out grilled to perfection. The middle was more rare, the ends more done. I caught the drippings in a roaster pan, added more brother a little Kentucky bourbon, and it was ready to go.

This rolled flank steak was the main dish. Along with mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus,

X-bread rolls and a 3-layer chocolate cake it was a good way to celebrate. The pyro tower was the star of the birthday.
