Cowboy Up

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9.

God's truth.  We trust.

Today, I had a thought: Right now, life is kind of like a barrel race. Here we are. feeling uncertain. Each alone - together on our own. We wait, we listen. . Everybody's watching. Ride! Hang on. Go fast. Spin. Fly. Race. Straight down the middle. Home, The goal and the prize are both Home. God's got us covered.

Barrel Racer

Nancy Bo Flood

The bleachers are packed full.

Everyone’s watching.

What if I fall?

What if my time is too slow?

One more rider, then

me.

"Next rider up!"

I click my tongue,

push my boots hard in the stirrups,

heels down.

My hands are sweaty,

but I hold the reins right.

Ready, girl.

Ride!

I bust through the gate,

spin round the first barrel,

shoot to the second

and circle around tight,

leaning so hard, my stirrup kicks dirt.

Streak to the last barrel—

spin, fly, race down the middle.

Home!
