My mother studied Latin in high school. While peeling the potatoes and chopping pickles for 4th of July potato salad, we would remember the men and women who gave us our freedom. It was important that we honor those who gave their lives. She reminded me to respect the men and women in the service. And each 4th of July, my mother would repeat the following Latin phrase:


Spes Nostra Es Deus - God is Our Hope


Fast forward to a few days ago. . .
