As David and I are wrapping up the writing about his healing journey, we connect with more and more wonderful people. One person starts, then one by one, others step forward. Straight forward, unassuming. . .We talked with the miracle man who initially arrived and drove the tractor off of David’s legs on that August afternoon. We spoke of the woman who began the prayer chain while the ambulance was still in the field. We talked about the amazing folks who contacted members of medical teams, redirected the helicopter, the woman at the hospital who gave me a cup of cold water to drink. The numbers grow like a flash mob.
So, maybe, just maybe: we live knee-deep in miracles every day. When we care for each other, when we receive or give a tiny bit or a lot of kindness, we hit the tipping point, and there goes the beginning of a chain of little miracles.
“All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we’re giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That’s one of the things that connects us as neighbors—in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver.”
