Look for good in your life, Seeing Only Him

Are any of you like me, in that you wake up about 2:00 AM and worry? I wake up and think of a whole list of things to worry about. Maybe it's the news that I can't unsee or unhear. Maybe it's a list of ideas that I come up with myself. The "What Ifs"? I can spread fear in my head like wildfire.

Philippians 2:5 reminds us to let the "mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus..." The mind of Jesus is the mind of God. We need to welcome the mind of God through Jesus Christ to rule in our hearts, our souls AND in our heads.

In England in 1925, Kate B. Wilkinson wrote a hymn based on Philippians 2:5,

"May the Mind of Christ, my Savior".

Here's a link to a gentle performance of Kate's song:

And a congregation singing version with the lyrics:

It's that last verse that made me pause, and think (see the original words and my own changes in red below).

Verse 6

May His beauty rest upon me,

As I seek the lost to win, (I am the lost when I worry myself to pieces)

And may they (And may I forget the channel-(news, social media, fear, worry)

Seeing only Him.

The channel Kate was talking about was the path or the way, or perhaps even the English Channel. But in covid-19 2020, I thought of channel related to social media, news stations and negative posts and rants.. And then I thought of "Seeing Only Him".

Take good care and be kind to yourself. Think of the mind of Christ Jesus guiding your mind to peace and beauty. Look for good in your life, "Seeing Only Him". You are God's beloved child.
