DIY May Day Basket – Free Printable

Making your own May Day Basket is a great project to do with kids for several reasons: 1) it’s really easy 2) you can get rid of all the excessive amounts of Easter candy you have left in your house 3) it teaches children about doing kind gestures for others.
I think May Day often gets overlooked by people, but when I was a kid my Mom and Aunt made May Day baskets with me and then we would deliver them to people in the neighborhood and I still remember how fun it was. I think that traditionally you are supposed to ring the door bell, leave the basket on the doorstep, and run away. But because we lived in Minnesota running away after ringing someone’s doorbell doesn’t follow “Minnesota Nice” rules. So my Mom and Aunt would chitchat with neighbors while I anxiously awaited delivering another basket to the next house. It was always a fun day and I knew I wanted to carry the tradition on with my boys.
So here is how we did it…
