May the Light of Your Soul Guide You

I dreamt of you last night.

We were at a cafeteria together, selecting our meals. First on the buffet was an enormous bowl of 3 day old pasta salad. While I usually love pasta salad, this huge bowl of pasta salad was stale and dried out. There were flies that kept landing on it. A stack of large battered tin plates was nearby for guests to serve ourselves as much

as we wished. The plates were not clean.

Many of the folks ahead of us were taking huge helpings of the stale pasta salad. Their hands were full holding onto the tin plates of pasta salad. Bits of stale pasta salad and flies littered the floor.

Much farther away in the cafeteria, we saw there was another table. It was a long walk to get there. On it, there were already filled individual dishes of beautiful fresh fruit, vegetables, breads, proteins, and sparkling glasses of fresh juices. But we had to keep going and wait to get there. And those plates were small.

As we approached the first table, you said to me, "Carol! Skip the pasta salad! Pass it by! Wait for the small plates and fresh drinks."

Together we walked on quite aways, empty handed. We were very hungry. We were scared there would not be enough.

Finally, we arrived at the small plates table.

We selected from the few small dishes on the table. The dishes were designed to stack neatly for ease of carrying. They snapped together like Lego block towers. We chose and stacked the beautiful foods. As soon as one plate of food was chosen, another lovely offering appeared!

We carried the stacks of clean, delicious foods to our loved ones, our spouses, our children, our families, our friends and our enemies. There was plenty for everyone.

When I woke up this morning and remembered that dream, I felt reassurance. We are all in God’s great care. He is caring for each of us on this Earth.

(Thanks to my friend Marsha for guiding me so well in my dream! It sums up a beautiful spirit and strong faith that shine from within.)

God is so good.  Blessings and prayers for all.

Benediction For Living A Creative Life, By John O’ Donahue

May the light of your soul guide you.

May the light of your soul bless the work

You do with the secret love and warmth of your heart.

May you see in what you do the beauty of your own soul.

May the sacredness of your work bring healing, light and renewal to those

Who work with you and to those who see and receive your work.

May your work never weary you.

May it release within you wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement.

May you be present in what you do.

May you never become lost in the bland absences.

May the day never burden you.

May dawn find you awake and alert, approaching your new day with dreams,

Possibilities and promises.

May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.

May you go into the night blessed, sheltered and protected.

May your soul calm, console and renew you.
