Mother’s Day.
Thank you to all who love us as mothers.
Here is the card I gave to my mother when I was 8 or 9 years old. My dad and I drove into town and I bought the card at Wilson’s Sundries. Jim Wilson has a wooden file cabinet filled with greeting cards. These were carefully filed by categories, each card in a plastic sleeve. Birthday cards, wedding cards, sympathy cards, baby cards along with Mother’s Day cards were available. Dad let me choose the card I wanted. I chose a fancy one. The little girl and the dog on the front of the card had plush black velvet decorations. After we had finished our purchase and a short visit with Jim, Dad and I drove home. After supper, I signed the card to Mom from Dad, myself, our two dogs Brownie and Pat, and the two orange barn tomcats Fluffykins and Fuzzykins.
Thank you, Laura.
David’s mother Velma, my mother-in-law, created multiple scrapbooks for each of her four sons. Along with his parents Velma and Lloyd Spangler, and three older brothers Lee, Wayne and John, David is pictured. The photo was taken at the west side of the Fairview ER Church. Along with the photo, I found a handmade picture for Mother’s Day among David’s scrapbooks.
Velma and Lloyd Spangler- mother and father 1947 – day before Mother’s Day
Tallest brother is Lee, then Wayne, John is next and David is the smallest Spangler boy.
Thank you, Velma.
