SNOW CONES and SUMMER!!!

Think Rodeo! Think Fair! Think Swimming Pool! Think Fun and Cold and Sweet and Delish!

“A snow cone is a variation of shaved ice or ground-up ice desserts commonly served in

paper cones or foam cups. The dessert consists of ice shavings that are topped with flavored sugar syrup. Depending on the region of North America, the terms "snowball", “ice cone” and "snow cone" may refer to different things”. The Gunny Sack (This site does have some interesting snow cone history, if you are so inclined to learn more!)

This prim definition doesn’t even come close to capturing the delight of eating a frozen snow cone with friends at a hot, summer event. Shaved ice heaped in a flimsy pointy paper cup, drizzled with sweet syrup. . .How best to eat the icy confection? Take a big bite from the ice and suck up some syrup at the same time? Sip the syrup from the rolled edge of the paper cup? Quick! The point at the bottom of the cup begins to disintegrate way before the ice on top is significantly reduced. If the eater takes too long to work her way down in the cup. A sticky dribble of cold syrup has been known to drip onto clothing or knees, or down the elbow. But oh, it is so worth it!
