Has a bit of cabin fever caused you to go in search of a fun and yummy activity?
Perhaps try baking some sweet rolls or dinner rolls! Here are many ideas that are variations on a single batch of sweet yeast bread dough.
This is a copy of the Betty Crocker Facsimile Edition, 1998, of the original 1950 publication. Pages 98 and 99 offer the basic sweet dough recipe, along with many variations. Just for fun, I baked the Richer Sweet Dough. I followed the instructions, and then divided the dough half. I chose to make Parkerhouse Rolls from the instructions at the bottom of page 98. The Parkerhouse restaurant served these rolls. They are buttered circles of dough made by folding the circle in half over the buttered side, pressing firmly, letting the rolls rise, and then baking them. Sometimes Parkerhouse rolls pop open during baking, but they are delicious folded or flat!
With the remaining half of the sweet roll dough, I made cinnamon rolls from the instructions at the top of page 100.
Here are the results of this baking spree.
